Yehuda Hyman's musical about King David at Theater J

Award winning Center artist Yehuda Hyman's musical David in Shadow and Light premiered in Washington, D.C., at Theater J in 2008. Center-commissioned playwright Hyman and composer Daniel Hoffman worked on the project for several years. This production was the biggest undertaking in Theater J's history, according to their artistic director Ari Roth. For more information see the Playbill article:


Artists and friends shared a laughter and tears at John Rauch's memeorial concert

Many came to the beautiful moving concert the Yuval Ron Ensemble produced (with text by Center playwright Yehuda Hyman) in memory of the Center's co-founder and former president John H. Rauch who passed away in April 2006. Participating artists volunteered their time and art to perform, sing, play and tell stories that were inspired by John or about him. Center Ensemble in Israel, Ensemble Meitar, wins the Israeli Culture Minister award for musicians

The prestigious Daniel Binyamini Award to a chamber ensemble was awarded to Meitar for "recognition of its mission to play Israeli and Jewish music, a mission that Daniel Binyamini (z"l) would have probably appreciated deeply," as the judges panel wrote. The award, at the sum of $5,500 was given to the Ensemble by Israeli Culture Minister Raleb Majadla in a special ceremony.


Center artists Yuval Ron and Ari Sandel win an Oscar

Center affiliated artists Yuval Ron and Ari Sandel won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short FIlm for the film West Bank Story, directed by Sandel, and scored by Ron. This musical, which was made as Sandel's final thesis film at the USC Film School, was created to revive hope for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.


Center musical Institute ISAM awarded continuous support from an anonymus foundation

An anonymous foundation has approved an annual grant of £10,000 for three consecutive years to the Center's ISAM (International Summer Academy of Music). ISAM has taken place for several years in Michelstadt, Germany. In 2010 it will be held in the town of Ochsenhausen. The Center founded the program in 2005 and it has attracted major young talented composers and pianists from around the world ever since.
